Work-Integrated Learning

Picture
Rachael founded Odd Socks Theatre Company in 1999. The company was originally formed due to a student-centred WIL project that operated from Swinburne University of Technology's Theatre Program. Upon graduating, Rachael went onto to offer other Swinburne University of Technology theatre students opportunities to undertake work experience, internships and/or become active Company members. Throughout 2000-2005 the Company went onto create award winning, professional productions for Theatre-in-Education, Theatre for Young Audiences as well as theatre productions for the community that tackled social issues.

Odd Socks Theatre Company has been acknowledged for assisting Victorian primary schools for implementing anti-bullying policies via the award winning play Odd Socks and Neat Hair. A Queen's Trust Foundation Award was also given to the Company in order to financially support this project.

The anti-bullying Theatre-in-Education play was performed by the Company members over 2000 times throughout Victorian metropolitan and regional primary schools. The play was also published with the Australian Script Centre and is now archived (Australian National Library) for future Australian generations to access.
